The Baltimore Ravens have a handful of players ready to have a breakout season:

One of the best reasons to love this time of year, is the fresh sense of hope. The Baltimore Ravens have another season in front of them and we can’t wait to see how it unfolds. One of the biggest reasons for optimism is the idea that young Ravens could have themselves a breakout year. The Ravens know what they’re getting from their veteran leadership, but they’re going to need young stars to step up. Let’s take a look at who these breakout Ravens could be.

5. Nick Boyle:

We begin with a tight end that hasn’t had a ton of chances over the past two seasons.  Much of that is on nobody but Nick Boyle himself. Getting suspended 10 games for the substance abuse policy is never a good idea. What Boyle brings to the table is obvious. He has a really thick 6’4″ frame and he is more athletic than we expected him to be coming out of Delaware.

If you’re wondering why the Ravens haven’t signed a tight end like Gary Barnidge, it may be because they think Boyle can replace the production of Dennis Pitta. Obviously the Ravens will be going into the season using a tight end by committee approach. Crockett Gillmore and Ben Watson will play into the equation. Boyle will get his chances because he is the best blocking tight end the Ravens have. Secondly, Boyle has a very similar playing style as Pitta did. The former Blue Hen could catch a lot of passes from Joe Flacco, another former Blue Hen.
