Outside Linebacker:

The purple and black still have Terrell Suggs. After that it’s Tim Williams, Matt Judon, Tyus Bowser and Za’Darius Smith. That’s a lot of first and second year players. Tim Williams seems to be everyone’s favorite pick for defensive player of the year. I get it, he’s long and athletic and he was productive at Alabama. He still has to prove it.

Matt Judon has started to make a name for himself, now he has a real fight for playing time on his hands. Judon had a strong rookie season and showed signs that he would be a complete player at outside linebacker. He’s not just a pass rusher but he’s a good pass rusher. He has to build off that strong rookie campaign. Now he has heavy expectations to live up to.

It doesn’t matter how you slice it. The outside linebacker position is young, inexperienced and full of untapped potential. We don’t even know how playing time is going to work out for these players. It figures to be a pass rush by committee kind of situation. This is one of the most promising position groups on the team, but it’s also a position group that is brand new behind Suggs.
