Thoughts:
Looking at the wide receivers, Kenny Bell is a name that surprises me. With the amount of competition at the position I figured a guy like Chris Matthews or Griff Whalen would be higher up on the depth chart. Bell spent the last season on the Ravens practice squad and should get a decent chance to show his talents in the preseason.
The depth chart hasn’t been updated to include recently signed free agent Austin Howard, but you would have to assume he slots in behind James Hurst for now. I think that will change heading into the season, but for now Howard is still recovering from offseason shoulder surgery and hasn’t taken the field yet. Other than that, nothing else on the line is too surprising. It doesn’t shock me to see Ryan Jensen as the starting center right now. He’ll likely be the guy week 1.
The more I think about it, the more I think Buck Allen could make the 53-man roster. With Kenneth Dixon out, the Ravens are looking for another back behind Terrance West. Danny Woodhead will be the 3rd down back, but Allen could creep in behind West on the roster. I think it will come down between him and Bobby Rainey.
