5. Ryan Mallett:

Until Joe Flacco makes it back to practice, Ryan Mallett is the Ravens starting quarterback. The longer the team waits, the less likely they are to bring in a player from the outside. This means Ryan Mallett has to show up in the preseason. Mallett needs to develop a just in case rhythm with the offense and a chemistry with the wide receivers. Mallett must show that he is not only able to make all the throws, but that he can string them together into some consistency.

There are a lot of doubters in Mallett. When thing went sour with the Houston Texans, it was a really bad look for Mallett. The former Arkansas Razorback has had more failure than success in the NFL. It’s looking more likely that Mallett could end up being the starter for the Ravens in their opener against the Bengals. If Flacco isn’t back in the picture by the third preseason game, which is the dress rehearsal for the regular season, Mallett needs to show that he has what it takes.

If you’re hellbent on the Ravens staying away from Colin Kaepernick, you need Mallett to shine. The Ravens are paying Mallett like he is one of the best back up quarterbacks in the NFL. He has to show that he is in the preseason.
