Why The Ravens should look for a QB of the future:

Finally, through his entire career he has shown he is a very talented QB. He is accurate, he has a very strong arm, he can run any play and he can win games in the regular season and in the playoffs. Regardless of surrounding talent, scheme and coaching he has shown he is a very talented player.

Nevertheless, I think the Ravens have to go forward with an eye to the future, a future without Flacco.

Despite his obvious talent and Super Bowl victory, Flacco just hasn’t gotten it done or been the ‘elite’ quarterback. Over the past four years he has not been the guy that the Ravens have needed him to be. An argument can be made that the Ravens haven’t given him the surrounding talent he has needed.

Can he really go on another historic run?

However, an elite QB, or even a franchise QB, shouldn’t need the organisation to get him superstars all over the team. I think the Ravens have had good enough pieces to be able to create an offense that is productive. It would be nice to have had a true superstar at receiver or running back, but Tom Brady, Russell Wilson, Andrew Luck and Drew Brees have shown, that isn’t always necessary.

With Joe Flacco under center I don’t think the Ravens can reach the heights they are aiming for unless everything is perfect; the offense, the scheme and the defense. Naturally then, the Ravens should start their search for his successor.
