Honorable mentions

Josh Woodrum

Woodrum continued his solid play against the Saints. When he came into the game the offense moved much better but was stalled by receivers dropping the ball and penalties. He has looked sharp and poised in the pocket almost all preseason long. I think Woodrum makes the practice squad.

 Chris Matthews

So far in the preseason, no Ravens receivers have stood out. Chris Matthews has proven he is a good special teams player, but tonight he helped himself in the receiving game as well. How many receivers the Ravens decide to take into the season will probably decide whether or not he makes the team.

Fellow receiver Chris Moore scored a touchdown against the Saints but had an otherwise rocky performance afterward. Keenan Reynolds may have blown his chances with a fumble on a punt return, and no production in the receiving game all preseason. This gives Matthews the edge over him and a decent shot to make the team, if not for special teams play alone.

Bobby Rainey

The veteran ran hard against the Saints. He even punched it into the end zone for one of only two Baltimore touchdowns. He is simply the odd man out in a crowded RB group. The Ravens probably like their younger options better, so I don’t think Rainey makes the cut.

Taquan Mizzell

Mizzell did not have much help from the offensive line against the Saints. Penalties, which set the offense in long yardage situations, also hindered his ability to showcase his talent. Just like with Rainey, Mizzell is a victim of the numbers game. I think the Ravens will go into the season with West, Woodhead, and Allen as their three running backs. If they do decide to take a fourth then Mizzell would most likely be the guy.

Patrick Onwuasor

Onwuasor was already a lock to make the roster but I wanted to mention him because he is currently pushing Kamalei Correa for the start at ILB next to C.J. Mosley. A strong performance against the Saints which included a fumble recovery only helped his chances of becoming the starter. Onwuasor seems to be all over the field and knows how to make plays, which is something we have not seen from Correa at all so far.
