The Baltimore Ravens have acquired center Luke Bowanko from the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick. This is a great move by the Ravens and should help ease concern surrounding the offensive line.
For the second day in a row, the Baltimore Ravens have traded for an offensive lineman. This time it is for Jaguars center Luke Bowanko.

When are we as fans going to learn to truly trust Ozzie Newsome? The man knows how to do his job. Acquiring Bowanko means that the Ravens could play him at center, which would allow Ryan Jensen to move to his natural position at guard. Slowly but surely, the offensive line is taking shape.
Sure, I would have loved to have Alex Lewis right now, but he’s been put on injured reserve and this is about the best we could ask for at this point. Bowanko is bigger than former center Jeremy Zuttah, so the Ravens stuck with their statement about wanting to get bigger on the line. They now have some big players up front.
My best guess is that the week 1 lineup would be as follows:
Ronnie Stanley LT
Ryan Jensen LG
Luke Bowanko C
Marshal Yanda RG
Austin Howard RT
Final Evaluation
This isn’t a bad unit. It’s not great, but it’s about as good as could hope for this close to the season, especially with all of the injuries. Bowanko may not work out, but at least Ozzie is trying to provide help on a battered offensive line.
If the big guys up front can give Flacco room to step up in the pocket and provide decent holes for the running backs, then this offense could be pretty good. I’m excited to see how everything unfolds for the offense this season. Joe Flacco is another year removed from his knee injury and should be much improved. Let’s hope everything goes well and the Ravens end up having a solid offense to go with their punishing defense.
