2. One loss doesn’t define a season

As cliché as it sounds, one loss does not define a team. And by the time Sunday was over, not all was lost. The Ravens chose the best week to suffer their first loss. The rest of the AFC also lost and the standings are the same. Moral victories can be just as good and the Ravens didn’t necessarily take a big step back.

There’s going to be overreactions and plenty of legitimate concerns, but it’s still so early in the season. Sunday’s collection of games were some of the craziest games we’ve seen in a long time. It wasn’t just the Ravens who were upset, but also the Broncos, Raiders, Panthers, Raiders and Steelers. We aren’t going to say that all hope is lost for all of these teams and that their Super Bowl chances are out the door. It’s the NFL and any team can beat one another on a given day.

The last time the Ravens really got beat this bad was Week 7 of the 2012 season. They went to Houston with a 5-1 record and riding a four game win streak. The Texans handled the Ravens 43-13 and it felt exactly like it did after watching Sunday’s game. But what happened later that season? The Ravens won the division and the rest is history.

I’m just saying, we’ve seen the Ravens have their up and downs in seasons past. They aren’t going to be a consistent 13-3 or 14-2 team every year, but that hasn’t seemed to matter. There are still 13 more games to pay and anything can happen.
