The Baltimore Ravens trajectory has pretty much taken a nose dive since their 2-0 start. It’s time to start thinking about the future:

When the Baltimore Ravens began this season, it was with a playoffs or bust mindset. When the Ravens lost to the Minnesota Vikings, it became horribly apparent that this will not be year of the Baltimore Ravens. It is hard to recall a more disappointing season for the purple and black. It cannot be forgotten, how busy Ozzie Newsome and company were this offseason. The Ravens stocked up on defensive talent.

The biggest problem the Ravens face is that the offense has next to nothing to work with. When the Ravens went pretty much all defense in the draft with the exception of two day three offensive linemen, the Ravens knew things would be tight on offense.

A bad plan makes need for a new one:

The plan involved Breshad Perriman developing into a star. That didn’t even kind of happen. The plan involved a somewhat healthy offensive line. The Ravens lost Alex Lewis, Nico Siragusa and Marshall Yanda for the season and John Urschel surprisingly retired. Things went wrong for the Ravens offense to say the very least.

The thought process behind this Ravens team wasn’t complicated. Newsome’s plan was for a dominant defense to carry an average offense to the playoffs. The offense ended up being well below average. This offense is a complete joke and there is no way around that. The plan that the Ravens crafted didn’t work. Now the playoffs are a long shot and a top 10 pick isn’t out of the question. This is what happens when a football team neglects one side of the football and things go wrong on top of that. Now is the time for thinking about the future. Here are five Ravens to build the future around.
