Last season the Baltimore Ravens beat the Miami Dolphins 38-6. It’s a good memory to have heading into tonight’s game:

The Baltimore Ravens have made offensive football difficult over the past few seasons. It’s hard to believe that last year against the Dolphins, the offense exploded for just under 500 yards and 38 points on the scoreboard.

The 2016 win over Miami was the last great game of Joe Flacco’s career. Flacco had 386 yards passing and an impressive four touchdowns. He did throw an interception, but it was a nearly flawless performance. Flacco seemed to find the magic groove in that game. For one day he was peak Flacco and it was refreshing.

In this offensive oasis of a game Flacco involved 10 different players in the passing attack. Breshad Perriman took a crossing route 53 yards for a touchdown (yes, it really happened). The game highlights what the purple and black lost with Dennis Pitta. Pitta had nine receptions for 90 yards and two touchdowns in the contest.

The defense chipped in three interceptions. Lardarius Webb had an amazing grab on a 50/50 ball in the end zone; it was one of Webb’s best plays. The Dolphins were held to one touchdown and they failed to get the extra point.

It was a perfect day in Baltimore. The offense had a rare gem of a game and the defense did their thing. I happened to be at the game with my Dad. It was one of the best times I ever had with him, so the 38-6 win will always be special to me. The battle with the Dolphins was fun, something the Ravens Flock needed badly.

Can the purple and black do it again?

The 2017 Ravens would love to replicate last year’s win against the Dolphins. Last season the Ravens offense came out of nowhere to put on fireworks against Miami. This year, a stellar offensive performance would be even more shocking. In every conceivable way, the Baltimore offense has been stagnant and underwhelming.

There is no reason to expect a great showing from the offense. To be fair, there was no reason to expect it last year. Even with Pitta and Steve Smith Sr., the 2016 Ravens were not an explosive offense. The only thing we can hope is that the Ravens can have another surprise torching of the Dolphins. The game is just hours away. Hopefully for Ravens fans, it will be a good way to end their evening.
