3. Joe Flacco was a victim of a cheap shot:

I know we’ve covered the foul play by Kiko Alonso and how we feel about it isn’t exactly a mystery but I need to go on my soapbox. This hit was the worst hit I have ever seen in football. This isn’t physical football. Saying that we need to let them play or the game is too fast doesn’t work. There are bang bang hits without malicious intent, but this was not one of those hits. It seems rather obvious that Alonso tried to take Flacco out of the game, and the only thing it cost him was 15 yards.

Flacco is in the concussion protocol and according to reports he needed stitches behind his ear. This is all from a play where he slid, giving himself up. The rules are clear and Alonso crossed the line with his entire body, spearing through it with his helmet as a weapon. There is no doubt about it. There is nothing to debate. Flacco got brutally targeted. Nobody wants to take the physicality out of football but everybody should want to take this kind of play out of the game.

The Baltimore Ravens now have to await the fate of their quarterback. If he is out against the Titans that would be a huge blow to the team. If Flacco is out against the Titans than Alonso gets exactly what he was going for. He wanted to lay the hurt on Flacco and he didn’t care how he did it.
