Danny Woodhead officially returns to practice off Injured Reserve

Running back Danny Woodhead has officially returned back to practice for the Baltimore Ravens after spending most of the season on Injured Reserve.
No, the Baltimore Ravens didn’t make any moves ahead of the NFL trade deadline but they did get some good news. The team announced today that running back Danny Woodhead has officially returned to practice.
Woodhead returns after suffering a hamstring injury against the Bengals in Week 1 of the regular season. It was an injury that bothered him most of the preseason and put him on IR the past seven weeks. Now back at practice, Woodhead is eligible to return for a Week 10 matchup against the Green Bay Packers.
I’m not sure if most people realize this but having Woodhead back is huge. This is fantastic news for a struggling offense. The Ravens have been horrid in the passing game this season and Woodhead will make an immediate impact. We saw that when he had three catches for 33 yards on the opening drive against the Bengals in Week 1. He’s a trusted target out of the backfield and is one of the best pass-catching running backs in the league.
With how poorly the wide receivers have played, Woodhead is a No. 2 or No. 3 receiving threat in this offense. That’s pretty sad when you think about it, but the Ravens will take all the help they can get.
When Terrance West eventually returns back from injury, the Ravens are going to have some decisions to make at running back. That will leave them with Alex Collins, Buck Allen, Bobby Rainey, West and Woodhead on the roster. As great as it is to have that depth, someone’s got to go. My money is on Rainey even with his return ability. The Ravens have other players like Chris Moore who can return kickoffs.

Nevertheless, Woodhead back will boost the Ravens offense as they make a second-half run for the playoffs.
