The Baltimore Ravens beat the Houston Texans 23-16. It’s time to give credit where it is due:

The Baltimore Ravens got a very important victory on Monday Night Football. This game was obviously a Ravens game. There was good defense, not a lot of offense and it was a nail biter. The offense didn’t have a great night. Joe Flacco passed for less than 200 yards. The running game had big runs but it wasn’t like they were running all over the Texans.

The Ravens won a game in which the Texans gained more yards than they did. The big difference in the game was a couple of fourth down conversions by the Ravens and a few turnovers. This game could have gone either way. It was 23-16 late in the fourth quarter and the Texans had the ball. In the end the purple and black needed everything that went their way. The Monday night win may not be something for the Ravens to brag too much about, however it was an all important win. The Ravens control their destiny and that makes for a sweet Tuesday morning.

Now it’s time to give credit where it is due. Here are the three players who deserve a game ball for their efforts. These three players were the most integral pieces to the win.

3. Terrell Suggs

Terrell Suggs gets a game ball for his performance. The 35 year old outside linebacker looked explosive as ever in the contest. He totaled two sacks and a forced fumble under the Monday night lights. Suggs means so much to the team. He is the leader and he does it by example. He is one of the most enjoyable players to watch, as he seemingly never runs out of gas.

Suggs has 35 tackles, 9.5 sacks and four forced fumbles this season. The numbers he has put up in his career are out of this world. He has 124 sacks, seven interceptions and a mind boggling 34 forced fumbles. To put the forced fumbles into perspective, Ray Lewis had 17 forced fumbles in 17 seasons. Suggs has a knack for it unlike any player in Ravens history.

Every sack pulls Suggs higher up the list of all-time sack artists. Suggs is now 18th on the list, just behind Dwight Freeney. There is little doubt that Suggs will be enshrined in Canton Ohio. The most incredible thing is that Suggs is showing no signs of slowing down. He looks like he is in the best shape of his career and it’s hard to believe. Suggs is adding to his incredible career totals and he surely showed up for Monday Night Football.
