The Baltimore Ravens have officially reached the 2018 offseason and the team will have decisions to make this offseason. Here are five players they must move on from in the new year.

The Baltimore Ravens had their 2017 season cut short in devastating fashion with a last-second loss to the Cincinnati Bengals and now are left with the reality of starting the offseason earlier than expected. A new year brings about new decisions after missing the playoffs for three straight seasons, changes will be made.

The Ravens have 11 impending free agents set to hit the market along with other players who could be considered cap casualties. Pressed with cap space again this season, the Ravens will have to pick and choose wisely who they’ll be resigning and letting go. There won’t be any easy decisions for the front office and this is a crucial offseason for the purple and black heading into a new year. Another year of missing the postseason would ensue chaos.

We’re early in the offseason but here are five players the Ravens should move on from in 2018.

5. Lardarius Webb

The Ravens cut and resigned Lardarius Webb last offseason to save some much-needed room cap space. I think the same thing happens this year but Webb isn’t resigned. The 32-year old has played his entire nine-year career with the Ravens and been a fan favorite but it’s time for the two sides to part ways heading into 2018.

Webb is past his best days as an outside cornerback and made the transition to safety last season. He held his own alongside Eric Weddle but was outed with the Tony Jefferson signing this past offseason. Webb reverted back to the nickel and appeared in three games this season, starting in two. It wasn’t a season to remember by any means and Webb was ranked as one of the worst cornerbacks during his time on the field. He struggled at times and it showed in crucial points for the secondary.

The reality is, the Ravens need to get younger at the position and have the personnel to do it. Tavon Young will make his much-awaited return from a torn ACL and Jaylen Hill will also have a role once he’s fully recovered from his knee injury. Anthony Levine is still under team control for two more seasons and even sixth-round rookie Chuck Clark got valuable snaps during the final few weeks of the season. There’s a lot of talent in the secondary and the Ravens can suffice without Webb. He’s had an incredible career with the Ravens but I wouldn’t at all be surprised to see him cut this offseason.

Cutting Webb would free up around $2.5 million in cap space with just $800,000 in dead money along with it.
