Step 1: Make A Splash in Free Agency

More from Ebony Bird

The Ravens have very limited cap space for the 2018 offseason. Luckily, they don’t have as many key free agents this year as they did the last offseason. The most important name is of course, center Ryan Jensen. The Ravens can make room in free agency, but I think they only have room for one big free agency signing.

The dream scenario for the Ravens is Jarvis Landry. Baltimore hasn’t shown that they are capable of drafting and developing wide receivers. Therefore, the best option may be paying already proven players in free agency. Jarvis Landry is no Jeremy Maclin. He isn’t some washed up former star. This guy is still extremely young and productive, and he would thrive in Baltimore. He fits the mold as a Raven, with his attitude and his great skillset.

If they choose to re-sign Jensen, guys like Brice Butler, Paul Richardson, or Marquise Lee. They will not demand as much as Landry would, and they would still be nice additions. However, I think most Ravens fans want identity on offense. Right now, outside of quarterback, their best offensive player is a former undrafted free agent that was cut by his former team (Alex Collins). If they got Landry, you could finally get some star power that fans want to go and watch.

It is possible that the team can re-sign Jensen and still get Landry, but it would take some crafty restructuring, and maybe cutting a valuable player.
