Dallas Goedert is proof that talent can come from anywhere in the NFL Draft. The Baltimore Ravens should have this huge target on their radar:

The Baltimore Ravens need to take a good look at Dallas Goedert, who just might be the next Rob Gronkowski. Goedert is listed at 6’5″ and weighs 255 pounds. He is a huge target that makes tough catches in traffic. He’s everything you need in a tight end. He’s a match-up nightmare because of his size. While he doesn’t have elite speed, he’s quick and he can stretch the field. When you look at some of the leaping catches he can make, you see a player that would fit in perfectly with Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens.

Let’s talk production:

More from Ebony Bird

Goedert was a very productive tight end at South Dakota State; he was the big fish in the small pond. In the 2017 season he caught 72 passes for 1,111 yards and seven touchdowns. His best season was his Junior year, where he caught 92 passes for 1,293 yards for 11 touchdowns. He averages 15.1 yards per reception. Goedert is a big play guy who can also be a stellar threat in the red zone.

Strengths:

  • Goedert is a huge target, tall and thick framed
  • Goedert can make catches in traffic
  • Always open over his head, wins 50/50 balls
  • Willing blocker (despite needing work in this area)
  • Can line up anywhere on the football field, including the backfield

Concerns:

Should the Ravens draft him with the 16th pick:

If the Ravens take Goedert with the 16th pick, it would make some sense. The drop off at tight end happens much sooner than it does with this wide receiver class. Goedert has a chance to be the next great tight end. He has the physical tool-set and he looks really impressive on tape. I could see Goedert’s stock rising during the wait for the NFL Draft to start. Goedert would ideally be a player to target in the 20’s if the Ravens end up trading back.

The Ravens have a need at the tight end position and Goedert would certainly be a fit with Joe Flacco. Ravens fans have seemingly talked themselves into a Calvin Ridley or bust mindset, however guys like Derrius Guice, Courtland Sutton and Goedert make sense too. Don’t rule out the offensive line either.
