The Baltimore Ravens have a very important addition to the team. Michael Crabtree is a Raven:

We have some good news for you Baltimore Ravens fans. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter the Ravens have agreed to a 3 year deal with Michael Crabtree. This fantastic news for a Ravens team that has never been so desperate at wide receiver. Crabtree is instantly the top target for the purple and black. He has scored at least eight touchdowns in three consecutive seasons.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport tweeted out the details of the contract, which you can see above. The Ravens got a good player at a ridiculously good value. Crabtree gets $11 million guaranteed which is less than Ryan Grant was offered in his voided four year deal. How did the Ravens almost end up with Grant for that kind of money, when they got an established star in the NFL for this?

A massive upgrade:

When Grant failed his physical, the desperate Ravens had an even worse situation at the wide receiver position. The Oakland Raiders cut Crabtree after they signed Jordy Nelson. I actually think the Ravens ended up with the better side of the deal. Crabtree is a touchdown producing receiver who fits right in with the Ravens. I would not be shocked if the Ravens get more out of Crabtree than the Raiders get out of Nelson. Nelson is even two years older than Crabtree.

The Ravens just got a lot better. Joe Flacco just got a red zone threat. The offense just got a leader. Baltimore hasn’t had a big name receiver since Steve Smith Sr. retired. If the Ravens get back to the playoffs, Crabtree may prove to be one of the most important pickups in franchise history. It’s an ugly thought to think of where the Ravens would be without this signing.
