The Cleveland Browns are getting a quarterback one way or another. Which one should they avoid (AKA which one should the Ravens Flock will to Cleveland)?

The Baltimore Ravens don’t have any interest in the Browns returning from the ashes of their 0-16 season. The idea of the Browns getting it together would be a troubling one for the Ravens. The Bengals are the ever present thorn in their side. The Steelers are fairly regular about being contenders and are the Ravens’ top rival. The AFC North doesn’t need to get any tougher on the Ravens.

The best way for the Browns to get back into the win column is to pick the right quarterback with the number one pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. The quarterback as you will hear on a nonstop loop, is the most important piece of a winning football team. The Browns have the first pick in the draft. They have the chance to get the best quarterback. They also have a chance to be the Browns and pick the wrong quarterback.

In this particular NFL Draft class there are four big name quarterbacks: Josh Rosen, Josh Allen, Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold. There are takes on each of these quarterbacks going left and right. Just about everyone seems to have a different opinion when it comes to the quarterbacks in this draft class. That should scare the Browns. It’s not like in some draft classes where there is a clear cut number one pick.

The quarterback I trust the least is Josh Allen. Allen looks the part but his completion percentage doesn’t. When you watch Allen, don’t get too enamored with his rocket arm. He has one of the best arms I have ever seen, but remember Ravens fans so did Kyle Boller. I studied Allen and it scared me off.

When you’re talking to Ravens fans, Brian Billick’s wisdom holds a lot of weight. On NFL Network the Super Bowl XXXV winning coach, compared Allen to Boller, and pointed out what could go wrong for Allen. In the tweet below from NFL Network, you can watch the video of Coach Billick breaking it down.

The other quarterback that I would have a hard time taking if I was the Browns decision maker is Sam Darnold. He was a turnover slot machine at USC and he doesn’t have a rocket arm. One thing that I see in Darnold is a gunslinger mentality without the arm to back it up. Darnold had at least one interception in 10 of USC’s 14 games this season. In two seasons as a starting quarterback Darnold has thrown 22 interceptions and has also had a problem with fumbles.

With Allen, you have to wonder if a quarterback from Wyoming is getting propped up just because he looks the part. With Darnold, you have the concerns with turnovers. These are red flags. Josh Rosen looks like the real deal. Baker Mayfield seems like a special talent who just has the magic. Allen and Darnold have the most red flags and therefore have the highest chance of being busts. While both players have a lot of potential, Ravens fans should be happy to see Allen or Darnold be the next quarterback for the Browns. Just don’t tell the Browns that.
