The Cons to drafting McGlinchey:

The Ravens have a left tackle, and drafting right tackles in the first round isn’t always good business. Having two players who belong on the left is a luxury and it is far from the norm. The Ravens found Alex Lewis in the fourth round. Rick Wagner was a fifth round pick. The Ravens can find a right tackle later. The offensive line draft class is deep and the Ravens are not desperate up front. The Ravens need to move the needle with their first round pick. Drafting an offensive lineman at 16 may be a good move for the long-term, right now it will only lift the team so much.

The biggest concern for McGlinchey is that he can struggle with speed off the edge. I don’t think this is a reason to stay away from him in the first round, however it is reason for concern. The Ravens need a sure thing with the 16th pick. McGlinchey could be great but he is far from perfect. I think he is a bit of a project. His upside is intriguing however he may not be a huge upgrade in his rookie year. A first round pick has to help right away, and he has to do so in a big way.

McGlinchey is a name the Ravens have to consider. The Ravens just need a little something more with the 16th pick. They can pick a right tackle in the draft who can become a starter. Newsome has proven this time and time again. I see the pros and the cons, and ultimately it’s not the pick the Ravens should make. It doesn’t have to be a receiver, but it better be a game changer, with the 16th pick.
