Round 1: Calvin Ridley, Wide Receiver, Alabama

The receiver every Ravens fan clamored for doesn’t seem to be so in demand anymore. Many Ravens fans are raving about Courtland Sutton, DJ Moore, or even Christian Kirk. These are all excellent players who could potentially help the Raven’s but I think we would be remiss if we didn’t have Calvin Ridley number one. Sure Ridley’s combine numbers didn’t scream Julio Jones or AJ Green, but they weren’t terrible by any means. What Ridley does posses is production and the tools you look for in a number one receiver.

Ridley is a crisp route runner and has great hands. He has displayed on numerous highlights that he can high point the ball and win the one on one match ups or even double teams. Much like Amari Cooper, nothing that Ridley does is overly flashy, but the guy just wins match ups with smooth route running and terrific hands.

My senses tell me Calvin Ridely could end up being that guy that the Ravens pass on. Then he ends up on a team like the Patriots or Steelers and torches our defensive backs for years to come. We as fans shouldn’t pass on a receiver simply because we fall in love with singular traits of a lesser receiver.
