Round 3: Rashaad Penny, Running back, San Diego State

OFFENSE, OFFENSE, OFFENSE! It was no secret that the Ravens sorely lacked talent last year on the offensive side of the ball. After going hard on defense in last years draft expect the Ravens to do the opposite this year. Now many might be wondering why the Ravens would invest an early pick on a running back after Alex Collin’s had a terrific year last year, but Penny is just that good. It’s no secret if you follow me on Twitter that I have a real draft crush on the running back from San Diego State. He is in my opinion the best running back after Barkley and Guice.

Penny has all the tools you look for in a bell cow running back in the NFL. He has excellent vision, burst, and has great moves to evade tacklers. Penny is also a great receiving option out of the back field, taking 5 passes for scores the last two seasons. One of the biggest reasons you consider him for the Ravens is because of his ability as a kick off returner. With the Ravens losing both Michael Campanero and Lardarius Webb, they sorely lack a play maker on special teams.

This is an area where Rashaad Penny excels with him taking it for the distance three times last year. If I’m the Ravens, I don’t bank on Alex Collins replicating his production this year and at most hope for a Saints like back field where they have their own version of thunder and lightning.
