NFL Draft 2018: Dream first-round picks for the Baltimore Ravens
By Joe Schiller
Chris Schisler: Courtland Sutton WR, SMU
You know I kind of want Lamar Jackson wearing purple and black but even when we’re dreaming I have resigned myself to knowing it is never going to happen. Courtland Sutton has been the apple of my eye this entire draft process. I have Sutton ranked as my 18th best player and my number one wide receiver. There isn’t a player that would get me more excited than Sutton. I know it’s probably not going to happen, but some dreams are more stubborn than others.

Sutton is one of the most exciting receiver prospects I have ever seen. He’s a big-bodied catching machine. He’s not a burner but it’s not like he’s slow. He is an athlete who can make circus catches in traffic and he can do it at a level that only the best can. He has the body control of an elite wide receiver. When you ask Ravens fans who their favorite wide receiver was in team history they almost inevitably say, Anquan Boldin. Sutton is that kind of tough wide receiver that will bring down the football on the 50/50 balls.
The Ravens have never had a receiver like Sutton though. He has a chance to be a number one wide receiver and one of the best receivers in the game. If he’s there with the 16th pick, a little piece of my heart will break when the Ravens pass on him. The one thing I have been waiting for as a Ravens fan has been a superstar at the wide receiver position. I know some people are going to tell you, Calvin Ridley. I know some people are going to say that the Ravens shouldn’t go after a wide receiver in the first round. Sutton is just special. I think he’s going to be a star and I’m tired of watching star receivers on other teams, thinking “Why can’t we have a guy like that?”
