Well a lot of people saw the Ravens trading back to take Hayden Hurst, but who had Lamar Jackson ending up in Baltimore with the 32nd pick? This is a once in a lifetime kind of moment. How should we grade the Ravens performance in the first round?

BALTIMORE RAVENS. A. The Ravens walked into the 2018 NFL Draft knowing they wanted to help the offense. They also came into the first round thinking about trading back. The Ravens had a busy night of maneuvering. Ozzie Newsome managed to trade back twice on Thursday night. The Ravens all the sudden had some draft picks to work with and, Newsome really went to work. The Ravens traded back into the 1st round and took Lamar Jackson with the last pick of the evening.
On working the telephones alone the Ravens get an A. The Ravens worked the entire evening. This is a dream scenario for the Ravens. Remember, whether or not you had Hurst high on your board, the Ravens loved him through this entire process. The Ravens would not have been able to justify the pick at 16. The Ravens got two good players in the back end of the 1st round. Jackson may define the franchise for years to come. He is the most exciting player in the 2018 NFL Draft and the Ravens certainly need more of a wow factor.

I truly believe the Ravens got the future quarterback of the franchise. I think the Ravens got a superstar in the making. That catapults this 1st round grade to the A range. Hurst was a decent pick but a really good player. Jackson was a flat out steal. The fact that Jackson was even there is actually a shocker. Pulling off a trade, while keeping the team busy in the third and fourth round is incredibly good work.
. 1st round grade. Ozzie Newsome, Eric DeCosta

Now it’s time to grade both picks individually.
