5. The Ravens may feel pressure to begin the Lamar Jackson era

The Ravens drafted Lamar Jackson and the second his name was announced as the 32nd overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft the Ravens quarterback situation got tense. Lamar Jackson is a Hiesman winning quarterback from Louisville. Jackson is an incredible athlete with a strong arm and an even stronger level of confidence. Jackson may say all the right things, but he wants to see the field in his rookie season.

Joe Flacco has been the guy in Baltimore for 10 seasons. He is a Super Bowl MVP whose career has seen some rough valleys since winning a flashy car and a championship ring. Jackson is new and exciting. The fans want to see Jackson on the field. The media will make the drama magnified no matter what. If Joe Flacco has a rough start to the season or a rough stretch through the season, you know what to expect.

Imagine a situation where the Ravens see a promising season going down the drain. Desperation has always been a good accelerator of decision-making. Flacco could find himself on the bench and Jackson would at least get a temporary shot to show what he has got. This is something to at least think about before the season, because a decision at quarterback may not be easy all throughout the season.
