Running backs:

  1. Alex Collins
  2. Buck Allen
  3. Kenneth Dixon

Here is why:

There are six running backs listed on the Baltimore Ravens roster. The three listed above are obviously making the roster. The other three are undrafted free agents who are officially on the roster bubble. One of those three undrafted free agents could end up working their way on the roster, Jerry Rosburg needs players for his special teams units. These three rookie rushers aren’t part of the big picture going into camp.

Collins is the leader of the pack so his roster space is secured. Allen is a player that the Ravens have seen a lot of growth from. In two of the three seasons Allen has been in the league, he’s been a solid piece of the offense. Allen had a good rookie season and a good third year. Working his way back into the fold proved a lot to the Ravens and their fanbase. Dixon is the wild card. He’s making the team but how large of a role will he have in the offense?

The talking point at running back is simple. The Ravens need to find the right balance of Allen and Dixon that does not take away from Collins. The days where one running back does all the work is all but over in the National Football League, however Collins should get the most carries. Collins is a lightning rod, Allen is a contributor and Dixon’s role isn’t carved out yet. If Dixon delivers on his soaring potential, the Ravens could have the best running back trio in the entire NFL.
