Defensive Line:

  1. Brandon Williams
  2. Willie Henry
  3. Michael Pierce
  4. Brent Urban
  5. Pat Ricard

Here is why:

The Ravens made Brandon Williams the highest paid nose guard in football, so he’s not going anywhere. Willie Henry and Michael Pierce are young players with promising careers in front of them and they have shown some flashes of brilliance. When healthy Urban is a player the Ravens really value. Ricard is really a fullback that plays a little defensive line on the side. The Ravens are going to keep more than five defensive linemen but these are the five that are locks for the 53 man roster.

The next safest is Carl Davis because if nothing else, Davis is a space eater. The problem is that Davis is a player that is going into his third season without much production. Bronson Kaufusi hasn’t had much of a chance because he missed his rookie season with an injury, but the Ravens don’t really know what he’ll bring to the table in year three. Every preseason fans gawk about the talent on the defensive line but last season it was not amazing.

This is an interesting talking point going into the season. A player or two could sneak their way on the roster. Zach Sieler for example, who was Ozzie Newsome’s last draft pick, could impress the coaching staff. There is a lot of roster spot battles that we have to keep an eye on going forward when it comes to the defensive line. The locks to make the roster are solid players at this position. After that the prognosis of the defensive line becomes a little murky.
