Linebacker

  1. Terrell Suggs
  2. Matt Judon
  3. Tyus Bowser
  4. Za’Darius Smith
  5. Tim Williams
  6. C.J. Mosley
  7. Patrick Onwuasor
  8. Kenny Young

Here is why:

For a franchise that has had players like Peter Boulware, Jamie Sharper and Jarret Johnson it is impressive that Terrell Suggs is by far the greatest outside linebacker the Ravens ever had. Suggs is coming off an 11 sack season, he is on the team without a doubt. Matt Judon is an up and coming star who recorded 8.5 sacks in 2017. Tyus Bowser was a second round pick who had a few big plays in his rookie season. Za’Darius Smith is a good outside linebacker if he can stay healthy he can be a weapon for the defense. Tim Williams is a player that the Ravens won’t give up on in less than two seasons.

There is surely a crowd at this position group. The Ravens are moving Kamalei Correa back to outside linebacker. This may be Correa’s most natural position but the Ravens have seen more bad than good from Correa. He’s not a lock to be on the roster.

Moving to the inside linebacker positions this is fairly self explanatory. C.J. Mosley is a Pro Bowl level talent. Onwuasor has had ups and downs but belongs on the team even if its as a back up. Kenny Young has a real chance of becoming a starter immediately. These eight players are needed pieces of the puzzle that aren’t going anywhere.

After that, there just isn’t any guarantees. Bam Bradley could make the team but it isn’t a given. It would feel weird not having Albert McClellan on the Ravens however they can certainly live without him. The Ravens have eight players they are not going to say goodbye to under any circumstances at the linebacker position, which may be all they keep in the second level of their defense.
