4. Joe Flacco

With all this talk about Lamar Jackson, it’s easy to forget that Joe Flacco is the starting quarterback. The Ravens actually need Flacco to have a great year. Not only do the Ravens want to win, but they want to be able to trade Flacco after the season, to kick-start the Jackson era. Eric DeCosta may not decide to deal Flacco, but he’s going to want the option. Flacco could actually have a great season.

The Ravens have never pushed Flacco and they’ve never given him this much help. Last year the Ravens had Ryan Mallett and Josh Woodrum behind their starting quarterback and Mike Wallace was their best wide receiver. Sometimes it isn’t about the player, but the situation the player is in. Flacco is in a better looking offense and he has more motivation than ever to get things done.

Flacco is still a very capable quarterback. In a world where everybody wants greatness, Flacco has gotten stale. It’s easy to forget that Flacco is the kind of quarterback that shows up for the biggest games, and he’s won a lot of them. Flacco needs to steer the ship. If the Ravens offense helps the Ravens win games, Flacco is going to have a lot to do with it. Flacco may or may not be facing his last year wearing the purple and black, however he has a chance to make it a great season.
