2018 Baltimore Ravens: 5 questions for the backfield

2. Will Lamar Jackson play in 2018?
It’s the question that was unavoidable. Will Lamar Jackson play in the 2018 season? The answer to that remains to be seen, but he probably will. The temptation of getting Jackson on the field will pull on the coaching staff. Maybe the Ravens will get Jackson some action in garbage time of a game. Maybe they’ll put him in to send a message to Flacco, or use him and Flacco at the same time as a trick play kind of deal. One way or another Jackson is going to see the playing field in his rookie season.
What the Ravens Flock should not expect is Jackson stealing Flacco’s job. John Harbaugh gets called out on his loyalty left and right, and he’s built a strong relationship with Flacco. It’s going to be very difficult to convince Harbaugh that Jackson gives him a better chance of winning than Flacco. The Ravens will want to see Jackson on the field, but they also want to be patient. They don’t want to make a decision they can’t take back.
Jackson should see time on the field as a rookie, we just have to see how it comes. Jackson is a speedy weapon and that speed could translate into a trick up Mornhinweg’s sleeve. The important thing for everyone to remember is that Jackson is a quarterback. If the Ravens remember this, it should guide their decision-making.
