Honorable reason worth mentioning: The Orioles’ season from hell

If you are a member of The Flock who does not support the baseball team across the parking lot from M&T Bank Stadium, you may have a hard time relating to this, but another reason why many Ravens fans cannot wait for training camp to start this year is because of how bad the 2018 season has been for the Baltimore Orioles.

Where do I start? The Orioles currently own a 24-64 record, worst in the majors. They’re actually on-pace to have their worst season ever. The one-dimensional, home-run reliant offense can’t score runs, and the bullpen is depleted with injuries. To make matters worse, the contracts of multiple superstar players – Manny Machado, Adam Jones, and Zach Britton – all expire at the end of the season, along with the contracts of manager Buck Showalter and general manager Dan Duquette. It’s July 8. Not one player (most notably Machado) has been traded. No one has been fired. And every day the team continues to lose at a historic rate.

The atrocity on the field is bad enough, but the most frustrating part of being an Orioles fan is dealing with an owner who never addresses the media or cares about his fans. One of the things that makes being a Ravens fan awesome is that we know we will hear from ownership. Public relations are extremely important to maintaining a fanbase. Even the Ravens have struggled to relate to their fans in recent seasons. With that said, they listened to us and made an attempt to change things this offseason.

The Bottom Line:

The past three seasons have been disappointing for The Flock. Every year, the is to make the playoffs, and the Ravens have let us down recently. A lot needs to go right for the Ravens to make the playoffs this season. With the coaching staff possibly being on the hot seat, an impending quarterback controversy, and big adjustments to the offense and defense, this year’s training camp is the most anticipated Ravens preseason of the Flacco/Harbaugh era.
