Marlon Humphrey is ready now:
Marlon Humphrey was amazing in 2017. So good, in fact, that nobody outside of Maryland knew hardly anything about him. That’s entirely because of the level Humphrey played at as a rookie. Humphrey was locking guys down and no quarterbacks wanted to test him. That’s pretty high praise, considering most veteran quarterbacks love to test out rookies. After all, “Welcome to the NFL, rookie” is such a common phrase among cornerbacks.
Humphrey was so good, in fact, that he ranked among the best of the best throughout the entire league. See for yourself:

Yeah. You’re reading that right. Marlon Humphrey was top five in passer rating allowed among all corners in the league, just behind Jimmy Smith (another article for another time). Last I checked, that’s really good.
Now with Jimmy Smith out of the picture for at least four-games and turning 30-years old later in July, perhaps Marlon Humphrey is ready for top-dog responsibilities. Even if he isn’t, he’s likely going to be needed to be. Good thing he showed as a rookie he’s extremely capable of that.
