As the season inches closer, positional battles continue to be fought. The Ravens added two tight ends this off-season, but who will have the bigger impact?

“With the 25th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select Hayden Hurst, tight end from South Carolina.” “With the 86th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select Mark Andrews, tight end from Oklahoma.”

And so it was written.

It was after Andrews was selected in the third round that an incoming roster battle was to be held between the two. For better or for worse, the Ravens now had a competition between two rookies for top-dog status as the team’s starting tight end.

But don’t let the draft value fool you, Mark Andrews could give Hayden Hurst a serious run for his money. Both tight ends are expected to make an immediate impact as rookies, and a heated camp battle is something the Ravens should be heavily rooting for.

With guys like Maxx Williams fizzing out of favor with the Ravens brass, this shoots these two to the top of the depth chart. Nick Boyle and Darren Waller should be afterthoughts by this point in their careers. Both have been suspended for PEDs and aren’t even as good as Williams. That’s not a good sign, as Williams roster spot is also in question.

Focusing back on the two rookies, it will be one of the most fascinating camp battles to watch this off-season. Baltimore wins no matter what, but who should we bet on to be the bigger impact from day one?
