The Baltimore Ravens are just days away from their first preseason contest against the Chicago Bears:

The Pro Football Hall of Fame game is an established tradition that the Baltimore Ravens finally get to take part in. The Ravens and their opponent, the Chicago Bears get an extra preseason game out of this long ceremonial weekend. It has some pros and cons. For players trying to make the roster, this game is a huge advantage. This game is for the bubble players in the first place. The Ravens will see very few snaps for their starters, if they even feel inclined to put them on the field at all. This is a game that will test the merits of the undrafted free agents, the late round draft picks and the players who don’t have two feet locked into a roster spot.

The Ravens fans may not be that concerned with the game, after all Ray Lewis is being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this weekend. Saturday night will feature Ray Lewis’s speech. Lewis is slated to close the induction ceremony and it’s Ray, so it’s going to be a big speech. This is what fans are waiting for the most. While number 52 getting inducted into Canton is a bigger deal than an exhibition game, the game is still important.

At the end of the day, this game will give John Harbaugh and company another chance to evaluate players in a game situation. There may not be a checklist of things you want to see from a run of the mill, early preseason game, but there is a checklist of things Harbaugh and his staff wants to see. Preseason football answers questions for the coaching staff, that practice doesn’t quite cut it for. With that in mind, here are three things the Ravens want to see on Thursday night.
