The Baltimore Ravens are about to take on the Los Angeles Rams in M&T Bank Stadium. Here are some things you should know:

  • The Baltimore Ravens have battled the Rams six times in the regular season and have a 4-2 record against them. This is a preseason battle, so the stakes are pretty low.
  • While this is the second preseason game for the Ravens, it’s the beginning of preseason play for the Rams. Don’t expect to see starters more than a drive or two.
  • The Ravens hope to prove that they are Super Bowl contenders. The Rams certainly are a team that can win it all. The Rams are loaded with talent and are coming off a 11-5 record.
  • One of the major story lines from last week was Kamalei Correa’s resurgence. Correa has had a lot of struggles but he is coming off a three sack and one interception performance.
  • All eyes will be on Lamar Jackson. Jackson had the entire second half against the Bears and struggled. Jackson will get a similar set up in this game, but will look to improve his performance.
  • Robert Griffin III started the Hall of Fame game with an efficient performance. It will be interesting to see if he can wow us. Griffin unlike Jackson and Josh Woodrum, has had success in the NFL, as brief as it was.
  • The running back situation will be very interesting to watch. We may see our first glimpse of Kenneth Dixon in this preseason. Gus Edwards and Mark Thompson are competing for a spot on the roster. Neither Edwards or Thompson gained much traction last week behind a bad offensive line.
  • The Ravens won’t see much of the Rams starting quarterback Jared Goff. Sean Mannion and Brandon Allen are the Rams’ two backup quarterbacks. Mannion went to Oregon State where he had 13,600 yards in four seasons. He hasn’t had any NFL success to speak of yet.
  • It will be interesting to see how the Ravens offensive line does against the Rams, especially if the starters play. The Rams defense is built much like that of the Ravens the defensive front and the secondary could be the strengths of both teams.
  • The battle for starting spots on the Ravens offensive line seems wide open. Ronnie Stanley, Marshal Yanda are locks for the starting lineup. Orlando Brown Jr. could easily become the starting right tackle. That would leave James Hurst competing for a spot at left  guard, and the center spot is going to be an intense position battle.
  • The Ravens secondary could be tested throughout the game. First of all, Sean McVay is a great offensive play-caller. Secondly the Rams have weapons on top of weapons. Young receiving threats like Josh Reynolds could test the defense.
