1. Gus Edwards

Gus Edwards has a lot to gain in this game because the competition at running back is open. Edwards beating out Kenneth Dixon, who is often banged up, isn’t something out of the realm of possibilities. Edwards and Mark Thompson are both undrafted free agents. Edwards stood out more than Thompson in the Hall of Fame Game, and with a strong performance he could make a case for himself.

Remember, Edwards could earn a job on another NFL roster if he gets cut. Taquan Mizzell put on a show for the Ravens in the exhibition affairs. Mizzell got cut, but ended up on the Chicago Bears roster. Edwards is on the roster bubble, so he needs to position himself the way Mizzell did a year ago. Running backs are one of the more visible positions on the field; they can make the flashiest plays in preseason football. Edwards has a real chance to shine against the Rams backups.

Next. 5 Ravens to watch against the Rams. dark

The Ravens have a very important preseason slate. They have a lot of players that are eager to prove they belong in the NFL and that the Ravens need to keep them. Edwards is a player who looks the part of a Ravens running back. It will be very interesting to see if he has a shot to make the team. Dixon’s inability to stave off injuries may be a real opportunity for Edwards.
