Future outlook:

We all know Terrell Suggs is in line for another dominant season, and Matt Judon should continue to build on a solid start to his career. With guys like Tim Williams and Kamalei Correa appearing to turn the corner on their development in the pass rushing department, this only makes the position that much better. If Tyus Bowser can get healthy and Za’Darius Smith can be a solid rotation piece (like he was in 2017), the sky is the limit for this group.

Now let’s look at this defense from top to bottom:

The secondary remains intact, with cornerback Tavon Young making his return into the line-up. The linebacking core remains captained by C.J. Mosley. And now the defensive line has Brandon Williams and Michael Pierce available to eat gaps, while Willie Henry attacks the quarterback.

Next. Joe Flacco looked sharp in limited preseason action. dark

All of that, plus a pass rush that looks unstoppable thus far in the preseason. This is the recipe for the best defense in the league.

Last season, the Ravens hung around with teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars in terms of dominant defense, despite injuries and lack of production from key players. In 2018, Baltimore could surpass the Jags, and it all starts with this revived pass rush that looks as deadly as ever.
