Here are 5 things the Ravens have learned this preseason:

5. Lamar Jackson came in as advertised, but he’s not ready to take the job yet.

The Baltimore Ravens got everything they were expecting from Lamar Jackson. He is every bit of the incredible athlete he was at Louisville. Jackson has great speed, moves on top of moves and serious arm talent. Jackson is what the Ravens were expecting.

It’s no surprise that Jackson isn’t ready to take Joe Flacco’s job. Jackson is used to being the best athlete on the field, but in the NFL things are more of a fair fight. Secondly he has to do things he never had to in his collegiate career. Jackson has to get in the habit of seeing the whole field as a passer first. He needs to improve as a decision maker at the NFL level because it’s new to him.

In his first game, Jackson got the entire second half. It didn’t go great. Jackson went 4-10 and threw an interception to go along with his touchdown. Things went better against the Rams. He seemed more in the moment and more relaxed in his second outing. The important thing for Jackson is that each time on the field, he sees improvement. Jackson is in a good situation for a rookie quarterback. The Ravens have time to wait, Jackson has time to develop.
