3. A defensive lineman or two stepping up

The Ravens defensive line is an interesting part of the roster. It’s crowded, but there are only a few standouts. Brandon Williams, Michael Pierce and Willie Henry are your exciting players. Brent Urban is a strong piece of the puzzle when he is healthy. Carl Davis is okay and Chris Wormley still hasn’t broken out. Zach Sieler is a rookie and Pat Ricard is more of a fullback than he is a defensive tackle. The Ravens have four guys they know they can count on and the rest are reserves.

The Ravens need one or two of these defensive linemen to show them something in this game. Zach Sieler is a very impressive young athlete. His upper body strength makes you think he was made in a football player laboratory. He is on the roster bubble and he needs to make it impossible for coach Harbaugh to hand him his pink slip. Carl Davis is kind of on the roster bubble. He’s been here for a few years. Davis needs to show Baltimore that he has no business being on the roster bubble in the first place.

Whether or not Bronson Kaufusi is an outside linebacker or a defensive end, waiting for him to do something is a bad thing. Kaufusi has to start to make an impact or the preseason will be his last games wearing the purple and black. The Ravens defensive line hasn’t been that impressive in the preseason and that needs to change on Monday night. Baltimore needs a dominant defensive line. They know what they have in their top guys, but they need lights out performers beyond that to have a stellar rotation for the regular season.
