Special Teams remains in flux:

No, this slide isn’t about Justin Tucker, Sam Koch, or Morgan Cox. You should know exactly who this slide is about, or at least the group of individuals I am pertaining to.

It’s been a long minute since Ravens fans were treated to the fireworks that Jacoby Jones graced the city of Baltimore with. No one has stood out since Jones left following the 2014 season, and that doesn’t look to be different any time soon. In fact, we’ve seen a revolving door of underwhelming players attempt to seize the kick/punt returner position.

The Ravens Special teams unit has underachieved throughout the 2018 preseason thus far, and their most recent performance against the Colts was very disappointing. Tim White and Janarion Grant lead the charge for the team, but both have struggled to hold on to the ball. This could ultimately cost both of them theirs spots on the roster.

Next. Jimmy Smith suspension opens the door for Marlon Humphrey. dark

Come dress rehearsal night, Head Coach John Harbaugh and the rest of the Ravens staff will expect significant improvements from these young men, as well as the rest of the cast. Special Teams has always been a big part of the Ravens past success. Guys like Jones and Jermaine Lewis before him were integral parts of past Super Bowl championships.

Bottom line, the Ravens need their Special Teams to come through, but these aren’t the guys to do it, and because of that we can expect another lackluster (at best) performance from the crew on Saturday night.
