The last preseason game is a tough sell. There are some decent College Football games, and we’re not seeing any of the Ravens starters. How can the average fan get into the fifth and final preseason game for the Baltimore Ravens?

There is no getting around the fact that the final preseason game seems utterly pointless. This seems especially true this year for the Ravens, who have already played four games because of their trip to Canton, Ohio. If you like College Football a game between UCF and UConn or the battle between Northwestern and Purdue will be more entertaining. But you’re a die hard Ravens fan. You’re all about the purple and black.

Watching this game through it’s entirety will earn you the football nerd badge. The argument for lengthening the regular season to 18 games is controversial, but shortening the preseason to two games is a nearly universal request of football fans. The Ravens walk into their final game, with a good idea of what the 53 man roster is going to look like when they play the Buffalo Bills. Practice weighs just as heavily (and many times more heavily) in the decision making process. Five preseason games makes the season that doesn’t count feel like groundhogs day. Ebony Bird is home of the biggest Ravens fans you’re going to find and I’m telling you, we get it.

There are reasons to get excited about the Ravens battle with the Redskins that have nothing to do with bragging rights across the beltway or keeping an insane preseason winning streak alive. There are some position battles that are razor thin. While the Ravens have most of the roster worked out, the preseason finale could  help or hurt several players chances. It’s not an easy sell, but here is why you should watch the game.
