Signing NaVorro Bowman isn’t ideal for Ravens stop-gap ILB

Fiscal and logical:
The Ravens are spending just ~$1.269 million between Patrick Onwuasor and Kenny Young, and even adding Tyus Bowser’s ~$1.267 essentially doubles that total to just over $2.5 million. Signing Bowman would likely exceed that number your spending for those three players (all numbers provided by spotrac.com).
Plus, how much does Bowman truly have left in the tank? He just celebrated his 30th birthday at the end of May and hasn’t been nearly the same player he was prior to his gruesome knee injury. The upside simply isn’t there the way it is for the other three players Baltimore already posses. It’s unfortunate, but facts are facts…
Bottom line:
At the end of the day, sometimes we base our thoughts on the heart’s wants over the more logical decisions. NaVorro Bowman is one of the biggest names in football over the last few years and becomes an incredibly attractive name to the ears of casual fans alike. Unfortunately, Bowman just isn’t the guy he once was.
C.J. Mosley’s season is only in doubt short-term (hopefully) and splurging just doesn’t make sense. I understand how cool it would be to say NaVorro Bowman played for Baltimore, and I’m sure his jersey sales would spike, but at the end of the day it’s all a business and this isn’t the best business decision.
Ravens TNF loss: 3 big things to think about moving forward. dark. Next
Sorry, Ravens Flock, but NaVorro Bowman isn’t the answer, even short-term, for Mosley’s injury. Just count on the young fellas to step up and hope for the best. We’ll be waiting patiently for our star linebacker to return.
