Week 2 of the NFL season started bad for the Baltimore Ravens, with a 34-23 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Here is a recap of everything of note from week 2:

The Ravens had a great chance to take early control of the AFC North on Thursday Night Football. Baltimore didn’t get up for the opportunity. The Bengals jumped up to a 21 point lead with the Ravens looking clueless in the opening act. Joe Flacco started to get it together and the defense started to get some stops. A comeback was possible, but ultimately wasn’t in the cards. We’ve sulked about the purple and black enough for now. Let’s take a look at what happened across the NFL on Sunday. Here are the three things Ravens fans should know heading out of week 2 in the National Football League.

1. Ravens loss softened by AFC North foes also finding the loss column:

The Ravens are 1-1 and in second place in the AFC North. The Pittsburgh Steelers fell to the Kansas City Chiefs, in what was essentially the coming of age party for Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs second year quarterback, in his first season as a starter, had six touchdown passes in Heinz Field. While Mahomes showed everybody that the Chiefs are a team to watch, he also showed that the Steelers are a team with real problems.

The Steelers defense surrendered 42 points. Mahomes sliced them up for over 300 yards and Kareem Hunt gashed the Steelers on the ground. The Steelers even gave up a 31 yard run to Sammy Watkins. Pittsburgh’s defense looks incredibly vulnerable. While Pittsburgh came back from a 21-0 hole, the Chiefs couldn’t be stopped. The Steelers scored 37 at home and it wasn’t enough. In a couple weeks, Joe Flacco better shine against the Ravens’ top enemy, because there are some major cracks in the Steelers armor. After tying with the Cleveland Browns in week 1, the Steelers are now 0-1-1 to start the season.

Must Read. Reasons for optimism after crushing loss. light

The Browns came close to beating the New Orleans Saints. The Saints came alive in front of their home crowd at the Superdome and won the game 21-18. It was a gritty game, in which the Browns showed progress. The Browns are still looking for their first win since the 2016 season. Cleveland came so close, but the win drought was extended. The Browns do have a consolation though. They have the same record as the Steelers. When was the last time that was the case?
