The Ravens own the NFL’s top defense and it’s not even close
Stats to back up the talk:
Remember in week two when the Ravens surrendered 34 points to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football? That seems like a millennium ago, because since then the Ravens have given up just 37 total points, including a complete shutout against the Titans this past Sunday. The team has allowed an average of 12.8 PPG in 2018 despite such the huge blowout on their record. That’s nearly impossible to wrap your head around!
The Ravens 11 sacks on Sunday set a franchise single-game record, while also throwing the team all the way to the top of the leader board for team sacks this year at 26. 13 different players have recorded a sack this season for Baltimore, with the team high being just 5.5 sacks (Za’Darius Smith).
The turnovers may not be coming as often as the team would like, but that hardly matters when you aren’t letting teams score on you. Did we even mention that the Ravens still have yet to allow a touchdown in the second-half of any game this season? That’s terrifyingly insane.
What we’ve seen thus far in 2018 has been historically good and we need to embrace this defense. Going into the 2018 season, it was absolutely thought Baltimore owned a top ten, maybe even a top five defense, but no one gave the team the attention they deserved. Instead, the media flaunted over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Minnesota Vikings, and others. Do the Ravens have your attention now? You know what, it doesn’t even matter. The stats, the players, and the beat-downs speak for themselves. The 2018 Baltimore Ravens are the owners of the NFL’s top defense, and it’s not even close.
