Ravens vs. Saints: Injury round-up before the big game

The Ravens vs. the Saints will be one of the best games the NFL will see this season. Here’s a quick injury round up before kickoff.
Starting with the Ravens, the following players will be inactive for Sunday’s action against the Saints. Some are surprising, while others are obvious.

Anyone who believed that Alex Lewis was somehow going to play this game were delusional after the terrifying neck injury he sustained last week vs the Titans. Joining him is offensive tackle James Hurst, who has been a routine staple of the starting offensive line every week. This will be his first missed game of his career (undrafted in 2014). Rookies Orlando Brown Jr. and Bradley Bozeman are both expected to get their first NFL starts today in place of Hurst and Lewis respectively.
The biggest hit has to be losing cornerback Marlon Humphrey to a nagging hamstring injury. Thankfully, the Ravens have Jimmy Smith back in their line-up to shade Saints receiver Michael Thomas for 60 minutes. He’ll certainly have his work cut out for him, as Thomas is playing at an All-Pro level in 2018.
Meanwhile, for the Saints… the following players will be inactive, per the team’s official website:
- Offensive Linemen: Jermon Bushrod
- Offensive Linemen: Will Clapp
- Defensive Back: J.T. Gray
- Defensive Linemen: Trey Hendrickson
- Defensive Linemen: Mitch Lowen
- Offensive Linemen: Andrus Peat
- Defensive Linemen: Taylor Stallworth
The Saints are depleted on the offensive line, especially with Andrus Peat missing today’s action. Peat was one of the starting offensive guards across from Pro Bowler Larry Warford, and his primary back-up (Jermon Bushrod) is also absent from today’s game. This doesn’t bode well for running backs Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara, but the Baltimore Ravens defensive line is starving for this opportunity.
