The Baltimore Ravens worked out a handful of running backs according to ESPN’s Field Yates. Here are some quick thoughts on this:

The Baltimore Ravens have to figure out how to get their running backs to be productive. One option is inserting a new face into the backfield rotation. You may have seen Baltimore Beatdown has already covered this story. They did a great job, but here at Ebony Bird we have some thoughts to share as well.

Here is the original tweet by NFL Insider, Field Yates:

1. Akrum Wadley is the most interesting option:

The Baltimore Ravens worked out five running backs. When we we getting ready for the NFL Draft, you may remember that I was quite high on Wadley. I saw a patient runner who had shades of Le’Veon Bell in his game. When he didn’t get drafted, I was baffled. I either saw something that wasn’t there, or a lot of people missed on him. One of the reasons I do so much work on the NFL Draft stuff is that I love football, it’s fun. Wadley was a very fun Iowa Hawkeye to watch.

Wadley got a chance with the Tennessee Titans this preseason. The Titans had their running back roster pretty much set with Derrick Henry and Dion Lewis being the main guys. A lot of running backs get more than one shot to have their career take off. Alex Collins is a great example of this. The Ravens saw Taquan Mizzell put on a preseason show a year ago, he’s still with the Chicago Bears. The Ravens are looking for anything that can give them a spark.

This doesn’t mean that John Harbaugh and company don’t believe in Collins and the running backs on the roster. It means they don’t want to wait to see if their faith in them will pan out or not. Baltimore needs a plan B in the backfield. What they need is somebody who can make something out of nothing. Wadley has good vision and is a patient runner. He displayed the ability to find the right lane.
