The Baltimore Ravens are about to take on the Carolina Panthers. Here are some game day bullet points to get you ready:

Stats were obtained at NFL.com team pages for the Ravens and the Panthers

  • The Baltimore Ravens have won their last two games against the Panthers but the Panthers lead the all-time series 3-2.
  • Run defense will be key for the Ravens. The Panthers are 3rd best in rushing yards per game. The Ravens run defense has been solid but there have been games where they gave up too much.
  • It is expected to be a mild weathered and sunny day in Charlotte for the game.
  • Baltimore will have to win without Marlon Humphrey and James Hurst. A shorthanded secondary and offensive line are never ideal situations.
  • Joe Flacco is having a great season so far. He has 2,067 yards and 11 touchdowns. Newton has the same touchdown to interception ratio however he has thrown for 640 less yards.
  • The Ravens running game has been struggling. The Panthers have the 8th best run defense in the NFL.
  • This is the half way point of the season. Baltimore will be 5-3 with a win and 4-4 with a loss. 5-3 is on schedule, 4-4 would hurt the Ravens chances.
  • The Panthers leading pass rusher is defensive end, Mario Addison. He has 4.5 sacks and the Ravens have to make sure he doesn’t add to that total.
  • Despite Flacco only having four interceptions and the defense playing strong, the Ravens are -1 in the turnover ratio.
  • Time of possession has been a big thing for the Ravens. Games they have won see a trend of dominating in this category.
  • Lamar Jackson has become an important part of the Ravens run game. He is their second leading rusher, with much fewer opportunities than running backs, this is a bad look for the Ravens backfield.
  • Justin Tucker ended the last game with a missed PAT. It was costly, but don’t worry about the kicker. Tucker has only missed one PAT in his career and he is mentally tough.
  • The most dangerous weapon the Panthers have is Christian McCaffery. McCaffery is a speedy and shifty running back who can make plays as a receiver and a runner.

Next. 3 problems the Ravens defense will cause the Panthers. dark

The Ravens need to win this game. They have to end the first half of the season with a positive note. They must also give themselves some momentum for another big battle with the Steelers.
