Baltimore Ravens are ultimate Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde team in 2018

The 2018 season was supposed to be different for the Baltimore Ravens, but it seems like more of the same half-way through the year.

I can get behind the Baltimore Ravens and be their biggest fanboy every week. I’ll proudly rock my purple and black wherever I go and I’ll chant and cheer as loud as I can for my team. Win or lose, I’m rocking with Ravens Flock ’til I die. But for Pete’s sake, make up your mind and decide what kind of football team you want to be.

You want to win 12-games, claim your division and go to the playoffs? I’m all for it. 9-10 wins and a wildcard berth? I can dig it. Double-digit losses and a top ten draft pick? Not ideal, but I’ll stick by your side. Blow it all up or keep everything together, I’m not going anywhere.

But with that being said, I am 100% entitled to be upset, frustrated, or really whatever I want when the team I love gives me a product that I can’t tell whether or not it’s stale.

This 2018 Baltimore Ravens squad is as inconsistent as they come. One day, they’re world-beaters who can earn a first-round bye for the playoffs, and then the next I’m sitting here wondering how they even stay in games with better teams. It’s beyond maddening.

We talk routinely about how good this defense is, and yet the last two weeks they’ve been steamrolled and cost the team games. Joe Flacco, who not even a month ago was being claimed by yours truly as a man playing at an elite level, is now in the midst of a crossroads with fans. The run game we were all stoked for is non-existent. For goodness sake we’ve seen the impossible happen with Justin Tucker missing a PAT in 2018!

To say 2018 has been a roller-coaster would be an understatement. It’s been entirely unpredictable and everything we thought we knew has either been completely wrong or is only correct half the time. That’s unacceptable for a fan-base on edge with the current staff and is banging on the table for answers now.

Will the real Baltimore Ravens please stand up? We’re all tired of the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde routine we’ve been given this year. If you guys want to be a great team and make the playoffs then do it! If you would rather be mediocre and post a losing record, that’s fine, too. But enough of the inconsistency. I can’t stand another year of unpredictability and an 8-8 record feels inevitable based off everything we’ve seen. I can’t think of anything more infuriating as a dedicated, and passionate fan than that.
