Lincoln Riley:

Should John Harbaugh indeed be fired by the Ravens, an offensive mind should take priority above all else. Considering the team’s investment is Lamar Jackson, it will be important early on in his career to set him up for success in his translation to the NFL. Therefore the next, and final, three candidates listed will be offensive minded coaches.

Hiring Oklahoma’s Head Coach Lincoln Riley is more of a pipe dream than reality. Nonetheless, it’s a fun thought to think about. More than that, hiring Lincoln Riley to replace John Harbaugh would be a grand slam for the organization.

Riley has only been the Head Coach of the Oklahoma Sooners since 2017, following the retirement of College Football legend Bob Stoops. Since then, he’s produced one of College Football’s most prolific offenses and made stars out of everyone involved with the offense, including eventual Heisman Trophy winner (and the 2018 NFL Draft’s no.1 overall pick) Baker Mayfield. The Sooners have long been a successful offense, but Riley has taken them to new heights.

The 2018 Sooners features a Heisman Trophy hopeful in quarterback Kyler Murray, plus an offense full of star-power like wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown. Riley’s offenses have been explosive on a weekly basis and it has NFL team’s attention. Teams who will need new Head Coaches following the 2018 season, a la the Cleveland Browns and the Dallas Cowboys, will be calling Riley as soon as possible. Baltimore should definitely be suitor as well.

Matching an innovative, young coach like Lincoln Riley would get Ravens fans excited in a hurry. While John Harbaugh will always be loved for the player’s coach that he was, Riley will immediately be treasured as the coach who put the Ravens offense on the map.
