3 Baltimore Ravens players who need to step up against the Bengals
3. Matt Judon:
The Ravens need to get big things out of Matt Judon against the Bengals. The key for Cincinnati is to get their rushing attack going. Both Joe Mixon and Giovanni Bernard are averaging over 4.5 yards per carry. When the Bengals running backs can get to the outside that’s when they are dangerous. Outside contain is unbelievably important in this contest and so Judon is one of the key cogs in the Ravens defense.
Not only that, but the Ravens need to get more pass rush from Judon. He only has 2.5 sacks this year. One of those sacks was against the Titans and that barely counts because everyone who wanted a one got one in that game. Judon has become one of the best defensive players the Ravens have but he needs to do a better and more consistent job as a pass rusher. He needs to start making the kinds of plays he is very capable of making.
Don Martindale knows that Terrell Suggs is going to bring the heat. He knows that Za’Darius Smith goes through stretches of being borderline unstoppable. He needs to see Judon make more of an impact. He needs to play great as a run stuffing linebacker, but also as a chaos creator in the backfield. If Judon steps it up, the Ravens have a chance to give Andy Dalton a bad day.
