Grading Lamar Jackson’s performance against the Oakland Raiders

How did Lamar Jackson do in his second start? It was a mix of good and bad, but there was a lot to be excited about:
Lamar Jackson had an overall strong performance against the Oakland Raiders. For the second week in a row, Jackson led the Ravens to a victory. In this game, he made much more of a mark through the air. He connected on some deep passes down the field (one beautiful strike to John Brown was called back because of a holding penalty).
Jackson was exciting. It was kind of what you expected from Jackson. He made some flashy plays, he made some mistakes and he did it through the air and on the ground. Jackson did a great job of keeping his composure. He didn’t let his interceptions, or any mistake for that matter, put him in his head. It’s time to get into the grade, but the moral of the story is that he led the Ravens to another win.
B. One problem Jackson had in the first half, was that he was too tentative to run the football. Jackson’s running ability is part of what makes him so dangerous, but in the first half he turned down chances to make plays with his legs. Jackson obviously wanted to show his arm talent in this game and he did just that. Jackson had some dimes in this game. He hit Mark Andrews and John Brown for deep passes, and he put the ball right where it had to be. Jackson had a nice pass to John Brown that had the perfect amount of touch. He threaded a tight window and connected with Hayden Hurst over the middle of the field. Jackson showed that he was a rookie in this game. There were a couple of passes that were behind his target. There were two interceptions on his stats line, and neither pick came from a great decision. Jackson had much more good than bad in this game. It was anything but flawless, but calling it a bad performance is very hard to do. Jackson ended up 14-25 for 178 yards a touchdown and two picks. He chipped in 73 rushing yards into the box score and he got his second win.. . . LAMAR JACKSON
